Contests

Our January Contest is Open for Submissions!

Creative Writing Contest | January | Creative Non-Fiction

Our monthly writing contests are geared toward creating fun, competitive opportunities for young writers to expand their writing experiences and dip their toe into what this industry offers. We charge nothing for our contests, so there's nothing to lose! Please review the requirements below before submitting. Our judges are eager to read your work!

The month of January's theme is Non-Fiction. Which means we are challenging you to work within the medium of creative non-fiction, a form which uses artistic narrative as poetry or prose to tell true stories. Examples of creative non-fiction would include, "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" by Hunter S. Thompson, "In Cold Blood" by Truman Capote, "Arctic Dreams" by Barry Lopez, and "Everything Sad is Untrue" by Daniel Nayeri. In short, such all submissions for this contest, whatever form they may take, must carry some degree of truth. It can be a personal story, or historical account, just as long as it is not totally made up. We are looking for you to tell your truth.
